Omagari Hanabi – Spring Chapter

First held in 1910, Omagari Hanabi in Akita Prefecture is Japan’s most celebrated fireworks competition. In summer, the National Fireworks Competition brings together Japan’s top pyrotechnicians, all vying for the Prime Minister’s Prize — the highest accolade in Japanese fireworks. The event is unique in featuring both daytime and evening fireworks.

In spring, audiences can experience innovative displays by young Japanese artists and an invited cast of global pyrotechnicians. In autumn, Omagari’s signature Creative Hanabi — our unique style of expressive fireworks — lights up the night sky in an artistic showcase.
